The Regional Consortia Chairs met on Tuesday, October 8, 2002, at CCCAOE, Palm Springs.  

MINUTES

HOST:      DESERT REGION

I.   Welcome/Introductions

  • Bernadette Black, San Diego/Imperial Counties Region

  • Dona Boatright, CCCCO

  • Tanya Burke, South Central Region

  • Sophie Curtin, Desert Region

II.      Work-Based Learning

Susan Coleman distributed a flyer on an upcoming workshop on Workforce Leaders Institute --  “Learning Student Success:  Charting the Course” – April 30th to May 2, 2003 at the UCLA Conference Center , Lake Arrowhead .  

III.     Nov 4th Regional Chair Meeting

Gary Mendenhall asked the Chairs for agenda topics for their November 4th meeting with the Chancellor’s Office.  Bill O’Rafferty suggested that Gary Mendenhall speak with Dona Boatright about how to format the meeting in Sacramento .  Tanya Burke suggested that the Chairs set some guidelines for Dona Boatright regarding the purpose of the Regional Consortia Chairs.

Dona Boatright attended the meeting briefly.  Bill O’Rafferty explained to Dona Boatright about the purpose and history of the Regional Consortia Chairs.  Gary Mendenhall further stated that the “Regional Consortia serves at the will of the region, and that every region operates differently.”

Gary Mendenhall asked Dona Boatright if she would like the meeting in November to be “structured or not structured”, and Dona Boatright indicated that she would like to know what areas the Regional Chairs would like to know prior to the meeting, that way she can get the appropriate people to attend the meeting.  Gary Mendenhall stated that the Regional Chairs will build topics for the agenda and then he will email them directly to Dona Boatright prior to the meeting.

Suggested topics for the November 4th meeting:

  • Data Collection for Final Reports – VTEA, Economic Development, and Special Populations (what do they need? Statistics?)

  • Budget Update

  • Technical Support from the Chancellor’s Office

  • Master Plan

  • Perkins Reauthorization

  • WIB, ETPL list agreements and accountability measures

IV.     Build Agenda for Wednesday  

Bill O’Rafferty indicated that the Regional Consortia Chairs will be meeting with the Statewide Advisory Committees on Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. at CCCAOE.  

Next meeting is November 4th with Chancellor’s Office in Sacramento (Host:  Central Region)
